Beginnings
The whole world has changed. Halcyon Ember arrived on May 18, 2007. She is a joy in our life. We are going to keep this website as a relic to her prenatal era. Hopefully, she will gain control of her own domain in the future. For now, you can follow her progress through her News and Photo of the Day section.
Old Section
The whole world changed for me so quickly. One moment I was preparing to take on a possible career change, learn to scuba dive, join a new ice hockey team, and was looking forward to a winter of skiing and snowshoeing. The next, I found myself sick and after fighting pneumonia last winter, I found myself in a doctor's office asap.
Due to my symptoms, my doctor wanted to do a blood test prior to antibiotics. And on Friday, October 13th 2006, I received some strange news, I was pregnant. This was hard to believe. I have been on birth control pills for years and done very well with them. And I spent all of September in an ice hockey training program that required lots of falling and bumping. From all medical standpoints, I was a complete anomaly.
I am not the “mom type” and this whole concept is a foreign idea to me. But sometimes fate does things for a reason. I have been dealing with a few issues, anemia, high blood pressure, and of course morning sickness. And sharing my body with this outside entity. I enjoy my alone time and have had to learn to share it. I keep hearing people say it will change our life. But our life is so far from normality. And Seattle is the perfect place to have a strange family.
We get to meet her in mid May 2007. And already she has an entertaining personality.
